George Zahringer

Mr. Zahringer has over 20 years of experience as an operationally oriented private equity investor with a track record of investing in and building businesses across capital structures, industry sectors and business cycles. He has significant experience improving and growing enterprises by leveraging people, processes, systems and culture to drive operational improvements and create scalable platforms, having worked with over 20 businesses. He has also worked closely with management teams as a strategic advisor, and has meaningful experience serving on portfolio company boards.

Mr. Zahringer focuses extensively on value creation strategies, including the development and execution of first 100-day, 300-day and 1000-day operating plans. His work has included establishing operating cadences, developing actionable reporting and key performance indicators, supporting business development and commercial growth initiatives, enhancing management teams, upgrading processes and systems and improving operations to support successful exits and investor returns.

Prior to joining Star Mountain, Mr. Zahringer was Co-Founder and Principal of AZ Private Ventures, a lower middle-market control private equity firm. The firm focused on applying operational value creation strategies to transform businesses and build scalable platforms.

Earlier in his career, he was a Principal at NexPhase Capital, a middle-market private equity spin out of Moelis & Company, where he contributed to investment sourcing, execution and operational initiatives across the firm’s portfolio companies. Mr. Zahringer also served as a Principal at Aterian Investment Partners, a middle-market operationally oriented special situations firm. He was involved in investment sourcing, transaction execution, post-close value creation and portfolio management.

Mr. Zahringer began his career at Cerberus Capital Management ($65B AUM) where he participated in investment transactions across multiple sectors.

Mr. Zahringer graduated from St. John’s College with a Bachelor of Arts.
